Wimbledon, England. Madison Keys, 2017 US Open runner-up, and Borna Coric pulled out of Wimbledon on Saturday due to injuries.
The tournament starts on Monday.
Keys, the American ranked 19th in the All England Club, withdrew from the tournament with an abdominal injury.
She was replaced on the pitch by Coco Vandeweghe, a two-time Wimbledon quarter-finalist and two other Grand Slam semi-finalists who lost in qualifying this week. Vandeweghe’s opponent in the first round will be Elena Rybakina, seeded 17th.
Coric is a Croatian who entered the field thanks to a protected rating because he was injured. He cited a shoulder problem for his departure.
He was drawn to face No. 12 seed Diego Schwartzman, a spot to be taken by an as-yet unannounced player who lost in qualifying.
