Well folks, the fateful day is fast approaching. We’ll soon find out where all those coveted NBA draft candidates we’ve learned so much about over the past year will finally be home. Obviously, most of the intrigue has to do with the top three players, Jabari Smith Jr., Chet Holmgren and Paolo Banchero, but this is a deep draft with potential influencers all over the place.

This is my last dummy sketch and it didn’t go the way I expected. I often find myself deviating from my lead rating because the match just doesn’t feel right. For example, I rate TyTy Washington much higher than No. 16, but for many teams above that, it just didn’t make sense to pick a defenseman with his skill set. That’s what makes the draft so interesting – the best player isn’t always the right player. As we just saw with players like Andrew Wiggins in the NBA Finals, fit is everything.

As far as players whose stock has improved, I have Dyson Daniels, Jeremy Sochan and Dalene Terry who have grown significantly from my previous trial draft. I also consistently rank Blake Wesley higher than most other layouts I’ve seen. But, alas, there is no time for revision. This is the final version, whether you like it or not, and we will see how close it is to the truth on Thursday.

Happy Draft Day everyone.
