The 2022 NBA draft will take place on Thursday night, and the Boston Celtics will likely come out with at least one new player.

Celtics do not own their choice in the first round this year. He was sent to the San Antonio Spurs in February as part of a deal that sent Derrick White to Boston. As a result, the choice became the 25th number.

The C’s have a second round pick at number 53 overall.

A few areas of the Celtics roster that need updating are scoring, center depth, shooting, and point guard. Obviously, it would be ideal to find a player with more than one of these abilities, but they are hard to find late in the second round.

However, in recent years there have been a few players who have been selected in the second round and have developed into quality NBA players, even as rookies.

One of the players who was drafted to the Celtics in several trial drafts is Michigan forward Moussa Diabate. He is listed at 6’11 and 210 pounds. The French-born power forward averaged nine points and six rebounds as a rookie with the Wolverines last season. He also started 26 of 32 games played.

Diabtate was ranked 34th overall (fourth pick in the second round) and 53rd in various tryout drafts. Obviously, there is a wide range of opinions about its potential.

What other players could the Celtics target? Here’s a selection of experts’ predictions for the Celtics’ second-round pick in the recent NBA tryouts.
