The 2022 FIFA World Cup will take place on Sunday, November 20 and run until Sunday, December 18 in Qatar. Within 29 days, 64 matches will be held in 8 stadiums, in which 32 countries will take part.

This will be the first time the World Cup has been held in the Middle East, but that’s not all that will be new at this year’s tournament.

For the first time in history, the men’s tournament will be judged by women. There will be six in total: 3 officials and 3 assistants. officials Stephanie Frappart (France), Salima Mukansanga (Rwanda) and Yoshimi Yamashita (Japan). Neuza Back (Brazil), Karen Diaz Medina (Mexico) and Katherine Nesbitt (USA) are assistants.

In addition, this will be the first World Cup where teams will be allowed to make 5 substitutions and have a squad of 26 players. Previously, teams were only allowed to make 3 substitutions and have a squad of 23 players. Teams will also have the option to make an additional concussion replacement if needed.

What are the rules for overtime and penalties in the World Cup?

If after 90 minutes of play there is a tie, there will be a five-minute break and then the match will go into overtime where an additional 30 minutes will be given. The time will be divided into two periods of 15 minutes.

If the score is still tied after extra time, the two teams will play a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner. If there is still a tie at the end of the shootout, teams will be awarded additional one-hit rounds until the tie is broken.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is on a tight schedule and this tournament in Qatar has been a sensation as the knockout rounds will capture the imagination of the world.

Japan, Australia and Morocco were among the last 16 due to so much upheaval during the tournament, but the Atlas Lions are the only of the trio to make it to the quarter-finals. Germany, Denmark and Belgium were eliminated in the group stage.

Argentina will face the Netherlands in the quarter-finals for a familiar matchup between Lionel Messi and a semi-final date with either Brazil or Japan.
