2022 World Wide Technology Championship picks, predictions, odds, props: PGA expert says fade Maverick McNealy

Viktor Hovland is gaining momentum as he aims for another win at the 2022 World Tech Championship in Mayakoba. This season he has two starts on the PGA Tour, finished fifth at the Zozo Championship and was T-20 at the CJ Cup. He will also play Thursday’s first match at El Camaleon Golf Course as a two-time defending champion after having scored 43 under par at his last two tournaments at Mayakob. Scotty Sheffler, on the other hand, is getting depressed after losing world No. 1 to Rory McIlroy at the CJ Cup last month. The reigning Masters champion and Hovland will be joined by the likes of Collin Morikawa and Tony Finau, as well as former Mayakoba winners like Matt Kuchar and Harris English. Hovland won 23 under par last year, and the average winning score over the 14 years of the tournament is 19 under.

Caesars Sportsbook lists Scheffler as a 9-1 favorite in their latest odds for the 2022 World Tech Championship, with Hovland (11-1) and Morikawa (14-1) not far behind. Only three other golfers are under 30-1 at the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship – Finau (18-1), Billy Horschel (18-1) and Aaron Wise (20-1). Kuchar, winner of the 2018 Mayakoba tournament, is 60-1, while the 2013 English champion is 80-1. Before making any selections or bets on the 2022 World Tech Championship, you need to check PGA Tour predictions, best bets and slippers from SportsLine golf insider Patrick McDonald..

He is prudent with his straight pick and finished the 2021-22 season with a 42 lead in those draws, beating Cameron Smith (22-1) at the Tournament of Champions, Hudson Swafford (250-1) at The American Express, Joaquin Niemann (70 -1) at the Genesis Invitational and Justin Thomas (66-1) live at the PGA Championship.

McDonald won two of his three Bermuda Championship matches, including winner Seamus Power +100 over pre-tournament favorite Denny McCarthy. At the Zozo Championship, McDonald secured the lead in the first round by backing Brendan Steele 80-1, and also won two out of three matches backing winner Keegan Bradley over Corey Conners, one of the favorites. He’s won over 15 matchbooks this season, and anyone who followed McDonald’s advice has made a fortune.

Now McDonald has surveyed the 2022 World Tech Championship pitch and is fixing his best bets, best sleepers and favorites to avoid. You can check out SportsLine right now to see all of his PGA picks and predictions..

The best experts of the World Wide Technology Championship 2022 choose

In a surprise prediction for Mayakoba, McDonald loses to Maverick McNeely, even though he is gaining momentum. McNeely became the favorite with three straight top 20 finishes. But he doesn’t have a PGA Tour win, and “despite his current quality, there are flaws in his game,” McDonald says. The former World No. 1 amateur and college best player of the year can go wild on the sidelines, which won’t play well at El Camaleon. He also doesn’t score low enough, having scored under-par 17 in his last two tournaments and hit 69 or more five times.

On the other hand, the flaws of Morikawa’s short game shouldn’t be exposed on this pitch, which is why McDonald backs the two-time world champion. Morikawa has six world victories to his credit, but his last victory was less than a year ago, at the DP World Tour championship last November. He missed the top 25 in his two fall tournaments, but his green-to-green play was solid in the CJ Cup, where he was sixth in green-to-green shots in a T-29 finish. El Kamaleon’s flat greens should help him out, which is why McDonald says it’s “the perfect place to break his win-win drought.” See who else to choose in Mayakoba here.
