After being considered hirable by the Florida Gators, Jacksonville (FL) Bartram Trail four-star quarterback Sharif Denson pulled the trigger and went to public school.

Denson has strong ties to Orange and Blue: both his mother and father graduated from the program. He grew up as a fan of the team just a short drive from his hometown and now he will make that dream come true by teaming up with them in the future.

The Alligators love his versatility in the secondary defense and feel that he can be a player who can move to suit any of their needs.

“They told me that I would play STAR, but they also said that I would be on the sidelines because they know I can play it. They love my versatility in the slot, but they will push me back and forth.”

Credit should be given to defensive coordinator/safety coach Patrick Toney, who is currently No. 2 among the Gators in the 2023 rankings, for this addition. with him during his recruitment since he arrived in Gainesville. Denson only visited the UF campus last week and was able to spend a lot of one-on-one time with Tony.

“He’s my boyfriend, really,” he said of Tony. “He had a little presentation for me in the defensive meeting room. He put together a few clips that I had and just gave me some advice on what to improve. He wanted to give me a picture of what he can do. for me. PT is trying to hurt me. He really does his best. No DC does what it did for me.”

Denson chose the Gators over other Miami and Texas A&M finalists. In June, he visited both of these schools along with Florida. He is the first addition to the 2023 Gators class in secondary defense.

The 247Sports Composite, an industry average, currently ranks Denson as the 206th-best prospect in the country in the 2023 rankings and 24th-best defensive player in the 2023 rankings.
