As a favor to fans who have a general interest in WWE but may not have watched the match in months, we are happy to provide this FAQ as a guide to the Royal Rumble 2023 scheduled at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday.
Who will win the men’s battle royale?
We do not know! Isn’t it incredible? WWE, this model of predictability, has become completely unpredictable in the last few weeks. We don’t know who will win the Rumble to take on WWE Universal Undisputed Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. We don’t know if Reigns will still hold both titles by then, or if his dominant faction The Bloodline will remain intact.
It goes beyond the mat too. Heck, we didn’t even know until this month that Vince McMahon would be returning as chairman of WWE. We haven’t seen anything this wild since RETRIBUTION took over the production of RAW. It was so chaotic!
The question is removed and re-formulated: Who could win a male battle royale?
As a reminder, Battle Royale is a 30-player match with new wrestlers joining the fray every 90 seconds. Wrestlers are eliminated when they are thrown over the top rope and both feet touch the floor. Yes, you’re out of the game, even if you mess up your placeKofi Kingston.
As of Monday, 15 entries have been announced for the 30-man Rumble match: Austin Theory, Baron (or Happy, or King, or whatever) Corbin, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman (yes, he’s back!), Cody Rhodes , Drew McIntyre, Gunther, Carrion Cross, Kofi Kingston, Omos, Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, Santos Escobar, Seth Rollins and Sheamus.
Look at these names. Which Rumble we already have. (“They have more beef there than a steakhouse in Laredo!” – probably Jim Ross).
The most notable would be Rhodes, a guy we haven’t seen since he beat Rollins in Hell in a Cell with a bruise so big he looks like someone drew a map of Kazakhstan on his chest with grape jelly. . He underwent surgery to repair a torn right pectoral tendon and will return to the Rumble. It should be said that in the offshore books, Cody is the betting favorite, and it’s no secret why: his stated goal since returning to WWE has been to win the world title, which has eluded Dusty’s father and Dustin’s brother. He will also become a new rival for the Reigns.
Two names we suspect will be in attendance based on their reappearance on the Raw 30th Anniversary Show: The Miz and Brock Lesnar, who stepped in to give Theory a U.S. Title match win over Lashley.
ok based on this And their placement on official poster for the Battle Royale, which is a bit of a free giveaway.
Are we expecting big surprises from Rumble?
Again, our word of the day is “unpredictable.” The surprise could be the return of an NXT star or an injured wrestler. It could be something more like a free agent joining the WWE, like AJ Styles’ memorable debut.
Or it could just be Great.
Ever since WrestleMania was announced at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, rumors have swirled that Hollywood’s own Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, would take on Reigns to determine the true “tribal leader” in one of two major events. But he’s not the only star in the rumor mill. There have been several reports this week that “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was offered multiple WrestleMania matches, including against Reigns – and the Rumble is taking place in Texas – after his numerous appearances at last year’s Mania stole the show. John Cena returned to the 2022 SmackDown Finals for a tag team match and was named the “WWE 2K23” cover athlete.
Thinking of someone a little less nostalgic: Could WWE dearest Logan Paul earn a rematch with Reigns after a stellar showdown with him at Crown Jewel? Sure, he got injured during that match, but timing and injuries in WWE… let’s just say… are never accurate. You will notice that the list of original members does not include the rest of The Bloodline – Jay Uso and Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa and “Honorary Use” Sami Zayn. And they may end up being Rumble history.
What’s going on with The Bloodline?
Let’s reiterate first that this storyline is the most exciting thing currently playing out in professional wrestling. Specifically, the drama is about whether and when Zane will split from this Reigns-led faction, either because he decides to reunite with nemesis Kevin Owens or because he is excommunicated from the group.
On Monday, Zayn was put on trial as manager Paul Heyman presented evidence – circumstantial and otherwise – that Zayn was a traitor. He was rescued from the Samoan Spike Sikoa by Jay Uso of all humans, who provided counter-evidence that Zane was true to the Bloodline. This led to Reigns deciding that Zane was “innocent” before stating that he had his “final test” at Rumble.

Could it be in the match itself? Or could it have been in the undisputed championship match between Reigns and Owens?
Does Owens have a chance to beat Reigns?
Unless it’s the moment Zane addresses the tribal leader, we’re guessing not. But Owens and Reigns had a couple of really strong matches together – remember the 2017 Rumble when they fought Chris Jericho suspended over the ring in a shark cage? Even if the outcome may seem inevitable this close to WrestleMania, it will be worth the time…especially if it’s the next chapter in Zayn’s soap opera.
What about women’s championships?
The RAW Women’s Championship will be on the line when Bianca Belair takes on Alexa Bliss, someone we regret to inform you is creepy again, and not in Wednesday Addams’ sweet dance.
The former Harley Quinn for Bray Wyatt’s Joker, Bliss began to return to the realm of demon dolls and vomit black goo when Wyatt returned. This feud with Belair does not feature Wyatt, but the mysterious Uncle Howdy, a creature of dry ice and illumination that recently appeared during an out-of-ring fight between Alexa and Bianca.
From Dungeon of Doom to Firefly FunHouse, wrestling has always had its wacky supernatural side. Bend over in a cringe for this. And whatever it is, Wyatt is plotting in his… sigh … Black Match Mountain Dew Pitch.
What is a Black Match Mountain Dew Pitch?
First, the definition of terms.
A dark match is a match played without television cameras. If it’s before the performance, there may be some talents who will invite their representatives and warm up the crowd. If it’s after the show, it’s usually some kind of amazing matchup with top tier stars that’s played for spectators in the arena, not to advance the storyline. Such matches are usually used to send everyone home happy.
A Lights Out Match is an unsanctioned match between two wrestlers in which no rules apply and the result does not count towards their overall record. This is symbolized by the fact that the lights in the arena are switched off and on before the violence begins.
The Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match is… an advertisement for soda. Do they spray each other with dew? Is this some kind of burp competition? Is there a 2 liter bottle of black grape soda tied to a pole? Is this the start of WWE sponsored themed matches? How close are we to Caged Baby, in which two wrestlers fight in a cage made of soft, light cheese?
No one can really guess what this matchup between Wyatt and the verbose LA Knight will look like. We heard that there are some neon elements. We’re guessing it’s going to be loud and EXTREME because of Mountain Dew all of this.
There are echoes of the Bliss storyline here, where Wyatt tries to avoid slipping back into his diabolical past despite the evil presence of a certain Uncle Howdy. Will he show up here when Wyatt takes on the former Max Dupree? Does he like Mountain Dew at all? It seems to us more like sweet tea.
Are drinks included in the women’s battle royale?

Well, he will have Shotz-i! (Holding on to applause that never comes.) The women’s Royal Rumble also has 30 participants, although the list of official participants was much smaller than the men’s list a week before the event: Candice LeRae, Emma, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Rhea Ripley, Shayna Baszler and Zelina Vega.
The event is expected to feature the majority of the roster, including Becky Lynch, Damage CTRL (Bailey, Dakota Kai, Iyo Skye), Sonia Deville, Asuka, the aforementioned Shotzi, Ronda Rousey, and WWE SmackDown Champion Charlotte Flair. announced. The Women’s Rumble has become as famous as the Men’s Rumble thanks to its unexpected members – remember Kelly Kelly, Alicia Fox and Mickey James last year?
Unlike the men’s Battle, the women have an exorbitant favorite in Ripley, who has never won the Battle and is part of a highly hyped faction in Doomsday. But then again, this is a battle royale. Surprises are what it’s built on, whether it’s whose music is the next hit, who’s the last one standing in the ring… or Vince just declares himself the winner of both the Rumbles and the soda match because… he returned. And, of course, he will show himself as Uncle Howdy. … “IT WAS ME THE ALL THE TIME, BRAY!”
Enjoy the buzz!
