Rams protective tackle Aaron Donald says he’s not quitting.

Donald caused a stir by changing his Twitter bio to say he was a “former” NFL linebacker and then changing it back. But on Wednesday, Donald indicated on Twitter that he would continue to play.

Responding to a tweet that showed Donald’s former teammate Chris Long’s podcast saying that Donald would play this season, Donald pointed out that Long was right.

“Tell ’em C Lo [Chris Long] Yes I play, never said I wasn’t“Donald wrote.

But while it’s true that Donald never said he wasn’t playing, changing his Twitter bio to identify himself as a “former” NFL linebacker definitely hinted that he was done playing. And there is a long history of players using their social media accounts to give vague hints that they are considering retiring or requesting a trade or a new contract.

And in the same podcast clip that Donald agreed with, Long said that Donald would probably not want to be involved in a rebuild and might prefer the Rams trade him to a team that is better prepared to fight in 2023. Long even named the Steelers and the Eagles as two teams that the Pittsburgh native Donald would like to play for.

So even though Donald says he plays, he didn’t say he plays for the Rams. This means that his status still deserves attention.
