Why not, right?
Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell will start boxing next month.
According to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, the two former NFL running backs will face off at a heavyweight showcase at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on July 30. The fight will take place ahead of the YouTuber fight between Austin McBroom and AnEsonGib.
The fight is just an exhibition, so it won’t count as one of their official debuts in the sport. Former NBA player Nick Young is also on the undercard, where he will take on rapper Blueface.
Peterson, 37, is currently a free agent after spending time with both the Tennessee Titans and the Seattle Seahawks last season, though he only played four games. He currently ranks fifth on the league’s all-time rushing list and eventually announced he would retire as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, where the former MVP spent the first 10 seasons of his career. Peterson is still not officially retired.
Bell is also a free agent. Last season, the 30-year-old parted ways with the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his fourth team in two seasons. The former Steelers star has been struggling to find a home since leaving Pittsburgh, where he spent his first five seasons.
While neither of them has ever fought professionally before, having two great runners face each other in the ring is sure to make for an interesting fight, at the very least.
