South Carolina Gamecocks star Alia Boston was wearing a walking boot after a hard fall and coming out of Sunday’s 85-38 win over the Hamptons.
The fall happened towards the end of the first half. Boston caught a pass and was riding towards the basket when she fell forward and immediately started grabbing her right ankle.
Boston made her free throws before leaving for the locker room. She did not show up for the warm-up before the second half, and later sat on the bench with her right foot in a walking boot.
South Carolina head coach Don Staley called Boston “questionable” in a post-game press conference, but said the team’s doctor was not overly concerned about the injury. Boston will check on the injury on Monday.
Boston, the current Associated Press Player of the Year and MVP of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, was able to return to the locker room under her own power after the game. She even took some photos with fans along the way.
