Team signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling as well as Juju Smith-Shuster in free agency and elected Sky Moore in the second round of the draft. Mekole Hardman also remains in the squad and this year is ready to play a big role in the team’s attack.

At the conclusion of the team’s mini-camp on Thursday, head coach Andy Reid said he really enjoyed the way Valdez-Scantling and Smith-Schuster worked through the off-season.

“They have a good bond with Pat [Mahomes] until now,” Reid said during his press conference. “I’ll be curious to see how [that continues] when it’s live bullets and all that. So let’s see how it rolls. But I wouldn’t expect something very different from what I saw. And other guys who worked there – Mecole improved their skills and did a good job. And our young guy, Skye, mixed well there. So I like the mix of what we have.”

Reid added that Moore has big, strong hands and “catches everything”.

“He looks strong. You see it, how physically complex he is. But I would say that these are transfers,” Reed said. “And he’s a good trail runner. Smart child. Seems to have caught it well.

It’s still a long time before the Chiefs start the season against the Cardinals on September 11, and by then the offense could have changed significantly. But for now, Kansas City is optimistic that the host corps will be able to compete well in 2022.
