The Cowboys officially signed linebacker Anthony Barr on Thursday, but he won’t be on the team’s training ground right away.
Barr was listed as physically unable to compete after signing a contract and undergoing a physical with the team’s medical staff. The move gives Barr some time to boost his activity levels after a long stint as a free agent this offseason.
Once he is ready to work with the rest of the team, Barr will look to secure a position in the linebacker corps, which also includes Mika Parsons, Leighton Vander Ash, Gabriel Coxand sixth round pick Devin Harper.
Barr will have a familiar face on the coaching staff as he insists on playing time. Senior assistant George Edwards was the Vikings’ defensive coordinator for Barr’s first six seasons in the NFL.
