Anthony Pettis can’t seem to take a break.
Pettis faced Stevie Ray on Friday night in the main event of the 1 PFL playoffs in New York. Pettis lost to Ray just six weeks ago during the PFL regular season and wanted to get some revenge and punch his ticket to the 2022 lightweight tournament final, but all he got was a broken heart. Ray outmaneuvered Pettis in the first two rounds of the fight, doing enough to win a unanimous decision for a place in the PFL Championship on November 25. But that wasn’t the worst for Pettis.
After the fight, Pettis posted on his social media that he had broken both of his arms while fighting Ray.
It’s a tough outcome for Pettis, who has struggled since signing with the PFL in 2021.
The former UFC lightweight champion entered the organization with great fanfare, but Showtime finished 1st-4th in the promotion, with his only victory over Miles Price earlier this year. The loss raised Pettis’ overall career record to 25-14.
