Are changes coming to Buccaneers coaching staff?

Bruce Arians allegedly did a favor for Todd Bowles. In terms of services, this one was not very favorable.

Arian, according to the official version, decided to retire 17 days after Tom Brady40-day retirement, not directly or indirectly at the behest of Brady, but as a favor to Todd Bowles.

“The organization is probably in the best shape it’s ever been with Tom Brady back,” Arians told Peter King during the surprise resignation, “I’d rather Todd be able to make it big and not have to take a little [crappy] Job. I’ll probably retire anyway next year, in February. So, I’m in control of the narrative right now. I don’t control it next February because [if] Brady gets injured, we go 10-7, and it’s an open job interview. . . . I have 31 [coaches and their] families that depend on me. My wife is trying very hard not to let all these families down.”

Some of these families may soon go bankrupt. While a division win and a playoff berth would give Bowles a second year, changes are possible.

Both JoeBucsFan.com and PewterReport.com reports that the team is now expected to fire offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. According to the latter, sacking Leftwich for the 2022 season was seriously considered.

If that happens, it would be a dramatic downfall for Leftwich, who at one point last January was the favorite to become the Jaguars’ next head coach.

Other changes may be made to the offensive coaching staff.

This is definitely not what the Arians imagined. Bowles and Leftwich are two of the Super Bowl winning coach’s closest friends and confidants.

“I’m getting credit and Brady is getting way too much credit for what Byron is doing with our offense,” Arians said in April 2022. “One of the reasons I hope he gets all the recognition he deserves this year is to get a job as a coach; you know, last year he had about four or five teams that were really interested in him. . . . I expect him to become a head coach very quickly.”

Instead, Leftwich could walk away from his current job very quickly. And Bowles could be one of the head coaches when the 2023 season kicks off.

And Brady, if he plays in 2023, will likely change form again.
