LIVE STREAM ASTON VILLA vs ARSENAL

Mikel Arteta’s side have struggled hard against City but made serious mistakes at key moments and they are now relegated from the top spot after losing points in four of their last six Premier League games. All is not lost as they still have a game against City but Arteta has a lot of work to do to raise the level of confidence in this clash at Villa Park and beyond.

As for Villa, their confidence has shaken a little in recent weeks as they have conceded seven goals in their last two matches, which were losses to Leicester City and Manchester City. Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery has done an excellent job of stabilizing the ship since arriving at Villa and overall they look much better defensively and are very dangerous on the counter.

Key storylines and players in good shape to keep an eye on

All eyes will be on Arsenal and how they react to their first home defeat of the season against Manchester City. All is not lost for Arteta’s young team and if they can correct some of the big defensive mistakes and also convert the chances they create, they will stay with Man City until the end of the season. Little details hinted that they were playing at the top of the league table, but they were very good at being ruthless and scoring early throughout the season.

Villa’s midfield could be a problem for them as Camara and Luis have been excellent with Emery’s arrival, while Watkins and Bayley have also looked aggressive in attack.

Chelsea host Southampton at Stamford Bridge as two teams in poor form need a win to start the season.

LIVE CHELSEA – Southampton

Graham Potter is indeed struggling at Chelsea as his team continues to put on a decent performance but fail to use their opportunities in front of the net. They lost 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 in the middle of the week and have drawn three Premier League games in a row as Chelsea have only won one of their last nine games in all competitions. The pressure is mounting on Potter, especially since he now has so many talented players at his disposal after a flurry of arrivals in January. Chelsea are 10th in the table, 10 points behind the top four.

Southampton sacked Nathan Jones after a humiliating 10-man home loss to Wolves last weekend and it looked like Jesse Marsh would be their next manager. That deal with Marsh fell through, however, and Ruben Selles is now in charge of the team on a temporary basis as the assistant manager could well take over for the remainder of the season. The Saints sit bottom of the table but are somehow only four points away from safety despite a nine-game losing streak in their last 10 Premier League games. An interesting note: Southampton beat Chelsea 2-1 earlier this season and have played well against the Blues in recent years.

Key storylines and players in good shape to keep an eye on

The whole focus at Chelsea is on scoring more goals and they have been so close to that in recent games. They didn’t take their chances in the first half at West Ham last weekend and were forced to pay for it in a 1-1 draw, while Potter, who didn’t start properly at number 9, continues to surprise. Chelsea’s new signings Fernandez, Mudrik and Felix look very good and you should think everything will fall into place very soon. As for Southampton, a couple of their January signings also look like top players, with 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz scoring his first goal last week against Wolves and Camaldine Sulemana looking like a brilliant attacking talent. Now, can Saints improve defenses? If they can, they have a chance of staying up.
