Elimination test is one of the easiest and most fun games of the NFL season. Each week choose one team to win. If that team wins, you move on to the next week. You lose once and you’re out. The only caveat is that you cannot select the same command twice.
While it sounds simple, having the perfect season is always harder than it sounds. The key is to find a good balance between picking winners while also leaving quality options open for the coming weeks.
The past week has been extremely difficult on paper and we have once again seen a huge number of knockouts in the Eliminator Challenge. Each of the two most popular picks lost, with the Kansas City Chiefs (25%) losing to the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Chargers (22%) losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
There is one obvious choice on paper this week in the Green Bay Packers hosting the New England Patriots. They are the only double-digit favorites this week, and according to Sportzshala’s Football Strength Index, it’s the most lopsided matchup on paper all season, given quarterback Mack Jones’ injury status. However, the Packers are not only the big favorites this week, they are also predicted to be the big favorites in each of the next two weeks.
When it comes to choosing whether or not to use Packers, consider how big your group is. Larger groups are incentivized to save teams for later because they will most likely need the full 18 weeks. If you are in a small group with most of the field out, planning ahead is less important and the Packers would be my best bet. However, on larger fields, I think it makes sense to choose an unbeatable team that will suffer the first defeat of the season.
