Tyler Johnson (left ankle) was placed on injured reserve.

  • Forward Luke Philp and defenseman Filip Roos have been recalled from the AHL.

  • Defenseman Isaac Phillips transferred to Rockford IceHogs.

Johnson left late in the first period in Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Los Angeles after aggravating an ankle sprain he suffered earlier in the season. He was seen wearing walking boots after the game and will not participate in the three-game trip.

To help Johnson secure a spot on the roster and presumably a second power play, the Blackhawks recalled 27-year-old Philp, who had never played in an NHL game.

Philp ranks first in the IceHogs in powerplay goals (6), tied for third in goals (14) and fourth in points (30) in 31 games. He is right-handed and can play both center and wide, which gives the Blackhawks some flexibility.

Ultimately, the Blackhawks sent Phillips back to Rockford after 11 NHL games in which he scored four points (one goal, three assists) and led Rus, who has seven points (three goals, four assists) in 17 games with IceHogs. Roos has three points (one goal, two assists) in 15 games for the Blackhawks this season.
