In 2022, boxing continues to bring tons of highlights and fights. After a strong start to the year in the spring, things have taken a turn for the better and the sport is now approaching a long stretch filled with big fights almost every week.

There have already been big moments this year, such as the dominance of Errol Spence Jr. over Yordenis Ugas and the unification of three of the four world welterweight boxing championships. Tyson Fury has also recently returned to the ring, perhaps the last time he knocked out Dillian Whyte in London.

However, the biggest of all may have happened in May when Canelo Alvarez failed in his bid to become the WBA light heavyweight champion against Dimitri Bivol. The undisputed super middleweight champion was unable to seriously challenge the Russian title holder as he landed a career-high number of punches in 12 rounds. Alvarez recovered well, defeating longtime rival Gennady Golovkin by decision in September.

In addition, Oleksandr Usyk again reminded of his greatness by once again defeating Anthony Joshua by decision to retain the unified heavyweight crown. Now the Ukrainian has set his sights on achieving undisputed status in a giant fight against Tyson Fury.

Then, to close out the month, social media star Jake Paul returned to his first event of 2022 after multiple postponements and cancellations when he takes on UFC legend Anderson Silva.
