Boxing schedule for 2023: David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant, Anthony Joshua vs. Jermaine Franklin on tap

In mid-March, the boxing calendar for the year continues to take shape. With this schedule filling up, confirmation has finally arrived that Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Ryan Garcia will face off on April 22nd. Although this is not the only major fight scheduled for the first half of the year.

In November, Davis announced that he and Ryan Garcia had agreed on a deal to fight in 2023, and Davis only needed to contact Hector Luis Garcia on January 7 for the fight to take place. He did just that, enduring a tough early test before scoring with a knockout, securing arguably the biggest fight in boxing in terms of public attention.

A major bantamweight showdown has been scheduled for May 7, in which former undisputed bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue will move up to super bantamweight to take on WBC and WBO super bantamweight champion Stephen Fulton.

The schedule has also suffered with the recent announcement that a scheduled rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano on May 20 in Dublin has been postponed due to Serrano’s injury. Their first meeting was billed as Fight of the Year in front of a wild crowd at Madison Square Garden, making it the biggest and arguably most important fight in women’s boxing history.

However, Taylor will still travel to Dublin on May 20 with confirmation that she will defend her undisputed super lightweight title against Shantel Cameron.

Below is the current list of major boxing events for 2023.
