Ironton (Ohio) running back Jaquez Keyes has committed to Wisconsin.
“Thank you Coach Chryst and Coach Al Johnson and the rest of the staff for making me a priority and going above and beyond,” he said in his commitment post. “I’m excited to get to work and continue the great trandition of running backs at Wisconsin.”
“I fit what they do,” said Keyes following his Badger offer. “They run the football. Downhill runners are what they’re built for. It’s definitely a place I feel like anybody would want to go to.”
Keyes is a powerful 6-foot-1, 210-pound back who some schools liked as a defensive player, but Wisconsin recruited as a running back, similar to Braelon Allen’s recruitment.
Last season, Keyes rushed for 1,074 yards and 11 touchdowns on 94 carries and also carries a 3.8 GPA in the classroom. He was an All-State selection as a junior.
He had offers from Iowa, Pittsburgh and more.
A three-star prospect, Keyes is ranked the No. 25 rising senior recruit in the state of Ohio.
He becomes commitment No. 4 in Wisconsin’s 2023 class and the second of the day joining safety Justin Taylor.
