Rutgers received a commitment from a Detroit Country Day athlete. Gabriel VinovichA 6ft 1in, 215lb prospect who is vying for the next level running back.
Vinovich, a Top247 four-star prospect, prefers Scarlet Knights to offers from Marshall and Maryland. He becomes Rutgers’ second commitment in the class of 2024, joining on-staff offensive lineman Kenny Jones.
Running back coach Andrew Aurich recruited Vinovich to Rutgers. He visited the Scarlet Knights last April and then again in July.
In Vinovich, Rutgers becomes one of the best athletes in the Midwest with a score of 4.48 in the 40-yard snatch, 38-inch vertical jump, 11-foot long jump, 3.95 shuttle and 6.58 three-cone.
“I chose Rutgers for a lot of reasons, but mostly because of the coaching staff and the strong culture,” he said.
He added, “I’ll be playing Running Back and they’ve just been talking a lot about how they like to run with the ball and the three-down system I’m hoping to get into.”
In six games as a junior, Vinovich rushed for 887 yards (9.3 carrying yards) and had 12 touchdowns. In his sophomore year, he ran 970 yards.
247Sports ranks Vinovich as the #25 athlete in the class of 2024 and the #7 junior in the state of Michigan. Rutgers currently has no players from Michigan State.
