NASHVILLE, Tennessee. The weight of the unfulfilled season, the decision on where he will race in 2023, and the impact on his Truck Series team are gone. Kyle Bush.

Busch will be with Richard Childress Racing this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in the World Racing League endurance event. Bush said the team converted the old Cup car into an endurance racing car. Last year, RCR won the eight-hour endurance race there with Austin Dillon, Tyler Reddick as well as Kaz Grala.
Bush dreams of more luck in RCR than recently with Joe Gibbs Racing.
He has one Cup win in his last 53 starts – 14 riders have won more races than Busch in that span since the July 2021 race at Road America.
His 17 top 10 finishes last season were his lowest since 16 top 10 finishes in 2015.
He finished in 29 out of 36 points races – the first time since 2015 he finished in less than 30 races. for the first time in his career.
“Obviously it hasn’t been easy not only this year, but lately as well,” Bush said Thursday at the Music City Center. “So, frankly, it could be a blessing in disguise, although it could just be time for a new start, time for something new, time for something else.”
He looks to future NFL Hall of Famers Tom Brady and Peyton Manning for inspiration.
Brady has previously won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. joined Tampa Bay and won the Super Bowl in his first season with the Pirates.
Manning won the Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts before joining the Denver Broncos and winning the Super Bowl there in his final season in the NFL.
“I look at it as an aspect of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning when they left great teams, great beginnings where they won championships and they were able to win a championship somewhere else,” Bush said. “I would like to think that I still have the opportunity to do this at RCR.
“I see the opportunity with the new Next Gen race car as an easier step to take now than in years past with previous generation cars.”
He says this is because with the previous generation of cars there was more division between the teams because NASCAR didn’t regulate as many cars. With the Next Gen car, the teams share the same parts. Two-time Cup champion Joey Logano that his team still has a lot to learn about the car and maximize customization.
Busch says that despite the difficulties at the end of his tenure with Joe Gibbs Racing, he doesn’t go to RCR with a chip on his shoulder.
“I don’t think I need to prove anything, or I need to have a chip on my shoulder,” Bush said. “I just want to get on the field and have a good run again. … I felt that we had a lot of strong performances this year. I can count about six races that we could, should have, should have won and we didn’t, which is very frustrating.
“We were so good at giving them away that I need to get back to being so good at stealing and earning them.”

Among the perks of winning the cup is the Champion’s Journal. Jimmie Johnson started the tradition after his 2010 championship. The magazine’s existence remained a secret until 2017, when Johnson posted a photo on social media of himself handing over the magazine Martin Truex Jr.
The magazine goes from champion to champion, and the current champion keeps it for a year and adds an entry for the next champion before passing it on. Logano will receive a magazine from Kyle Larson.
“I can’t wait to read this again,” Logano said ahead of the NASCAR Awards on Thursday. “I’m telling you, it’s probably one of the coolest things. Jimmy deserves credit for coming up with this idea.
“I wish it had started earlier. It’s so interesting. Some drivers are very detailed about what they write to the next champion, and some are quick and easy. It’s very interesting to read. This is great. This is the real secret. It’s kind of like an unwritten rule, you can’t photograph it and upload it. This is something that only championship drivers know, have read and seen.
“Every time I get this, I get so nervous. I don’t seem to spill anything…
