Brian Gries is the quarterback coach for the 49ers, but he didn’t interact much with one of his quarterbacks. Grizzly stopped communicating with Jimmy Garoppolo down to Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch.

Garoppolo, soon to be retired by the 49ers, practices at the team’s practice facility in Santa Clara. But he does not interact with the team, waiting for the exchange or release.

“I know what he meant to this organization, to this locker room, to this area, to the Bay Area,” Grise said via Matt Maiocco of NBCSportsBayArea.com. “So I hope this gets resolved as soon as possible and he finds a place that suits him. I wish him only the best.”

Grise spent 11 seasons as an NFL quarterback, playing 83 games in an 11-year career playing for four teams. It may refer to Garoppolo.

The Broncos fired Grizzly in June 2003 after signing Jake Plummer earlier in the off-season and failing to negotiate a trade for Grizzly. He ended up signing with the Dolphins.

“I was in a situation where I knew I wasn’t going to be on the team and I was fired late in the process after June 1 due to a salary cap,” Grise said. “I remember how hard it was. We all want to know where we will play, where we will be. And now it’s been going on (for a while), so it’s very hard for Jimmy. So I really sympathize with the situation he’s in.”

Garoppolo’s departure will leave Trey Lance as undisputed QB1. The 49ers traded Lance in the draft, finishing third overall last year.
