After another critical failure, the Broncos moved away from Melvin Gordon.
Denver announced on Monday that the club had waived Gordon. If the team does not declare Gordon, then he will become a free agent.
The Broncos started the season with Gordon and Javonte Williams as the top two running backs. Williams suffered a season-ending knee injury during a Week 4 loss to the Raiders. Gordon has been inconsistent, running for 318 yards and throwing a couple of touchdowns this season. He also threw 25 passes for 223 yards.
But groping was a huge problem. Gordon has laid the ball down five times this season, including once at the goal line in Sunday’s loss to Las Vegas. Apparently, this turned out to be too much for Denver.
Latavius Murray was Denver’s top player on Sunday with 17 carries for 49 yards. Presumably he will have a job in the future.
At 3–7, the Broncos would play the Panthers 3–8 in Week 12.
