Casemiro’s red card changes the game; David De Gea’s reaction
The Brazilian’s reckless challenge saw him slip his foot off the top of the ball and into Carlos Alcaraz’s foot.
In the past, this move has been used to hurt a player without involving a referee, but now there is VAR and after it was considered, it was hard to imagine that Casemiro would not see his second red card of the season. .
Manchester United were in control immediately after that and it seems fair to conclude that Saints didn’t work too hard this week on what they would do if they had the ball.

Erik ten Hag didn’t like Casemiro’s red card, and neither did Armel Bella-Kotchup, who pulled the hook for the ball with a prone hand in Southampton’s penalty area.
He treated the red card with particular contempt.
“Inconsistent,” said Ten Hag. via Manchester Evening News. “The referee is approaching the start of the season with politics, we are the Premier League, everything is going well here, we need intensity. Casemiro participates in European games, more than 500 games he never had a red card. Now he has two. Think about it. He plays hard but fair. And here he plays honestly, just like against Crystal Palace, so it’s very debatable.

LONDON – Arsenal overtook Fulham to reclaim a five-point lead in the Premier League table as they rioted in a 3-0 win over Craven Cottage.

It was a pleasure to watch Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli tear Fulham apart in the first half. The duo moved freely between the left flank and the central zones, and Fulham simply could not track them. Arsenal pressed Fulham hard, but they were also so smart that they let Fulham make one pass from behind to midfield and then rushed to the challenge. Martin Odegaard moved forward to play as a second striker and was always able to combine when they came back.
