Boston Celtics will almost certainly rank among the most expensive NBA teams in terms of payroll in the 2022-23 season, as well as being a tax-paying team. In the new article from cap guru Yossi Ghozlan on our sister site HoopsHype, the Celtics are projected to have an expected salary of $170.1 million and a tax bill of $45.2 million totaling $215.3 million.

This will make them the fifth most expensive team in the league if the costs pay off, and only Golden State WarriorsLos Angeles Clippers, brooklyn nets, and the Milwaukee Bucks are looking for higher pay next season.

As for contenders, it’s something of a bargain, even if it sounds astronomical for most of our budgets.

And with Boston currently considered the favorite to win the 2023 NBA championship, it looks more and more like money spent.
