Matt Nagy is back as offensive coordinator for the Chiefs.
The executives announced that Nagy would take over the position vacated by Eric Biniemi’s departure to Washington. Nagy held the same position in 2016 and 2017 before being hired as the Bears’ head coach and was considered the most likely candidate for the role.
Nagy was fired by Chicago after the 2021 season and returned to the Chiefs soon after. In the 2022 season, he held the titles of quarterbacks coach and senior assistant.
Since Binemi left for the team, there has been no word on interviews for the position, but Rooney’s rule requires teams to interview at least one external minority candidate for the coordinator position so that executives either keep their conversations private or received news from the NFL.
