Andy Reid’s offense isn’t easy for newcomers to master, but Moore said he’s already starting to make headway.

“It’s starting to click,” he said Thursday. via Arrowhead Pride. “I feel like everything about this offense is a counter-attack – like we are running this game – and this game is against that game. So once you get the basics down, things start to work a lot faster.”

Moore said he benefited from training with Mahomes during the off-season in Texas, which is one reason he already feels comfortable on offense.

“After all, he has the keys to the car,” Moore said of Mahomes. “Just tell me what you want me to do.” Here’s how I look at it. Does he want it to be done like this? I’m going to do it this way.”

Coming out of Western Michigan, Moore was productive and proved he could win routes off the line of scrimmage. He has the ability to create space with leverage, and his large hands allow him to catch the ball on the move.

As a boundary receiver, the rookie could play a significant role in the offense, which includes rookies Marques Valdes-Scantling and Juju Smith-Shuster, as well as the returning Mekole Hardman.

Although he doesn’t have the lightning speed of Tyreke Hill, Moore can move the Chiefs’ offense and has seen snaps in the backfield during training camp.

When asked about catching passes from Mahomes, Moore joked:

“They won’t leave you with Pat. So we’re just a bunch of running minions.”

The rookie left practice on Tuesday with a hip injury but returned on Wednesday unworn. He downplayed the injury.

“I just tweaked it a bit,” he said. “[I] fell awkwardly. I am calm now. It was a small fix.”

As the preseason action unfolds, Moore will be one to keep an eye on. He has the potential to play a big role on offense if he continues to excel on offense and earn Mahomes’ trust.
