McDonough (GA) Eagles Landing Top247 offensive tackle and Clemson commit Zacharia Owens was honored this week as part of the All-American Bowl Road to the Dome series.
“I’m honored,” Owens said.
“I thought, ‘Oh my god, I thought this was really official. Me and my brother, I got this checklist, everything I wanted to do when I was in high school, and one of them was an All-American. When I took it out of the box for the first time, it was like we had actually made it. I really did it. It was a big achievement.”
The All-American Bowl has been the nation’s premier high school sporting event for 20 years and will return to San Antonio, Texas on January 7, 2023, where it will air live on national NBC. Over 20,000 fans flock to the Alamo Dome.
Game alumni including Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Trevor Lawrence, Keenan Allen, Odell Beckham Jr., Stephon Diggs, Marchon Lattimore, Chase Young, Naji Harris, Mika Parsons, Patrick Petersonderrick Henry, Christian McCaffrey, Ezekiel Elliott as well as Quenton Nelson. Game legends include Adrian Peterson and Joe Thomas.
Owens is 6’7″ tall and weighs 365 pounds and is part of the 9th-ranked Clemson class nationally.
“The program, the coaching staff, my teammates that I will play with, the coaching staff, the culture, they care about you as much as they do on the pitch. They give you the opportunity to get better. Not all colleges consider this a priority. It’s just that they consider it a priority and make it the top priority. One of Dabo’s sayings: “Leave the main thing to the main thing”, and this is the main thing, and this is what I love.
Owens is listed by Top247 as the No. 16 offensive player in the nation and the No. 122 prospect overall.
