Oklahoma lost the No. 1 ranking for the first time in nearly two years since a 4-3 loss to Baylor on February 19, dropping to second place. The Sooners reinstated him this week after a big win over UCLA.

Key game of last week: Oklahoma 14, UCLA 0. In Game #2 vs. #1, the Sooners hit six runs with two strikeouts in the second inning, thanks to home runs from Alyssa Brito, Jayda Coleman, Tiara Jennings, and Haley Lee. OU-UCLA has become one of the top rivalries in the sport, with five of their last seven matches dating back to 2019 taking place at WCWS.
A brilliant game worth watching: Texas A&M-Baylor (Saturday, 3:30 pm ET). Baylor outscored the opposition 101-32 in a 13-1 start. Aggie, meanwhile, has four starting players who are batting at least .350, all of whom have OPS above 1.080.
Player to watch: Sydney McKinney, Wichita. A fifth-year graduate, McKinney achieves her second title in a row. A year after leading all Division I hitters with a .522 batting average, she is hitting .708 and hitting in each of Wichita State’s 15 games this season.
Game of the week: Louisiana center fielder Mikhia Davis dove headfirst into the wall to pull off a spectacular move against LSU.
