Jackson State Coach Deion Sanders is expected to announce his plans for the future on Saturday after the Tigers face Southern University in the 2022 SWAC Championship game. This was reported on Friday evening by ESPN. that Sanders is already laying the groundwork for the staff and players he will target in the Colorado transfer portal. The transfer portal will officially open on Monday, although several players have already announced their intention to switch programs.

The offer makes sense given that Sanders has been successful and prominent in Jackson State. He is 26-5 in three seasons with the Tigers and is 11-0 this season. Sanders has also hired some of the country’s top talent, including Travis Hunter, a No. 1 recruit in the 2022 edition.

It looks like Colorado is hoping Sanders can do the same with the program that won the national title in 1990.

Colorado fired coach Carl Dorrell in October after starting the season 0-5. Dorrell took over the program during a shortened season due to COVID after Mel Tucker left unexpectedly to take a job in Michigan State. Things started well enough, with Buffalo going 4-2 in the shortened 2020 season, but they lost 13 of their next 17 games. The 2020 season is one of only two in the past 15 seasons that Buffalo have reached the bowl game.
