Once again, the top pick of the survivor pool of the week was knocked out.
The Indianapolis Colts stunned the Kansas City Chiefs with a late interception on Sunday afternoon to take their first win of the season, 20–17.
The win knocks out 35.3% of the Sportzshala Sports survivor pool in week 3, the week’s largest sample. The Los Angeles Chargers were the second most popular pick this week with almost 24% of applications.
Trailing throughout the second half, Colts quarterback Matt Ryan found Jelani Woods hitting a 12-yard touchdown with 24 seconds left in the game to move up three.
Although Patrick Mahomes took the Chiefs only a few yards away from a field goal, his final pass to Juju Smith-Shuster was tipped and then intercepted by Rodney McLeod to seal the Indianapolis victory. The interception was Mahomes’ first of the season.
About 32% of the bids were eliminated early in the first week after the Colts tied the Houston Texans and the New York Giants upset the Tennessee Titans.
Mahomes finished throwing 20 of 35 for 262 yards with one touchdown and an interception. His touchdown came late in the first quarter when he found Travis Kelsey and shot from three yards. Mahomes was also KC’s top rusher with 26 yards on four carries.
Ryan led the Colts throwing 27 of 37 for 222 yards with two touchdowns. He found Woods on their second drive of the day and scored 1 yard after the Colts recovered a dead punt.
