Conor McGregor may not be close to returning to the UFC, but he’s more than willing to light the fire with former champions, as Michael Bisping found out last week.

“I was just baffled when I saw this,” Bisping said. “I think where is it from? What is it all about? I mean God bless him. I’m actually filming in Bulgaria and we stopped for a short break and looked at my phone just like you and someone showed it to me in private messages. I wasn’t annoyed or anything, just scratched the back of my head, where did that come from out of the blue? …God bless him, he’s playing his first acting role and he’s all excited about it.”

“What an asshole,” echoed Bisping’s podcast co-host Anthony Smith. “Just got you into a mess because of a fight he had with Nate Diaz.

“I remember my first beer,” Bisping said. “He’s excited, he’s had his first beer and is doing a big show with Jake Gyllenhaal, God bless him. Well done, damn it. Great job. Why do you have to throw shit at me? … Just make sure you have your bodyguards next to you the next time you want to come and talk about some bullshit, you little bastard. Jesus Christ.”

“Funny you should say that,” Smith added, “because when I saw that, I thought that if he didn’t have all his bodyguards, and you and he would run into each other somewhere on the street, and he wouldn’t have 10 friends or five bodyguards or whatever, he wouldn’t dare to tell you something like that. And that’s the craziest thing for me. Why be an asshole if you know there’s nothing anyone can do about it because you’re paying $500,000 a year for security?”

Correspondence between Bisping and Smith eventually elicited a furious reaction from McGregor on social media Friday night, which he then deleted.

“Bisping, you do the f*ck you little sprinter, I’ll bang your head,” McGregor said in the first of a long flurry of now-deleted tweets. “Dirty fighter, shitty actor. Sirius head Hmm.

“You’ll see when you see me. … Who will do what and who needs what. Let’s see.”

“You want to go to war, dude, right? Wanna go to the fucking war? We’ll go to war with you, right? McGregor added in a voice note on Twitter. “Security. You little sausage. I’ll put you on guard… when you’re back in Vegas, mate. … Keep my name out of your fucking mouth or any threatening behavior, or I’ll walk through your door… You, little junkie. [Go] where you belong, you little clown, you little sprinter.

McGregor is set to make his first foray into Hollywood by starring alongside Gyllenhaal in a film remake. Road house.

It is not yet clear if McGregor will return to MMA. Infamous has lost three of his four fights in the past five years.
