Counter-report: Shaedon Sharpe has conducted strong group workouts

Schaedon Sharp — who signed up but decided not to play in Kentucky last season — is reportedly not thrilled with pre-draft training.

Although, maybe it’s not the degree of complexity.

Shams Charania from The Athletic:

Sharpe is predicted to have a high lottery selection and sources say he has been doing strong group workouts like three-on-three bouts to showcase his ability to teams that haven’t seen him play organized basketball for the past year or two. . Instead of doing one-on-one training, Sharpe gravitated toward competition, training for teams between the Nos. 1-13 draft ranges.

This seems more like an explanation/justification for Sharp’s lackluster training than a denial of it. At one point, Sharp looked like a possible top-five pick. If his range now expands to No. 13, it will be somewhat disappointing.

Prior to enrolling in Kentucky, Sharpe was filmed with his athleticism, shooting and ball handling. But sitting out the season raises questions about its development.

Training will disproportionately affect his draft reserve. The desire to compete rather than work individually reflects well on Sharpe. But he has to play really well in these 3v3 fights.
