News: Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said that RB Dalvin Cooke has been suffering day after day with a shoulder injury ahead of Week 4.

What does fantasy mean? Cooke left Sunday’s game against the Lions with an injury and attempted to get through it while wearing a harness as additional protection. He suffered a similar injury last season and missed one game before returning with the harness. Since the veteran running back has an extensive history of shoulder injuries going back to college, fantasy managers should add Alexander Mattison to their rosters first.

Let’s go deeper: Mattison started six career games with Cook inactive. In those games, he averaged 23.3 touches, 115.5 yards and 20.1 fantasy points.

News: Sportzshala’s Adam Schefter reported that Lions head coach Dan Campbell said RB D’Andre Swift could benefit from surviving Detroit’s Week 6.

What does fantasy mean? Swift suffered a sprained ankle in the season opener and now has a shoulder injury. His three seasons with the Lions were plagued with longevity issues. Detroit will rely more on Jamaal Williams if Swift misses time. Williams rushed for 87 yards and had two touchdowns against the Vikings in Week 3, one of the best plays of his career. It can be considered as RB2 if Swift doesn’t come out.

Let’s go deeper: Williams averaged 19.5 touches, 96.5 yards, and 16.6 fantasy points in games in which he was a starting quarterback (getting at least 15 touches).

News: Cowboys RB Tony Pollard finished with 105 yards on 13 attempts against the Giants on Monday Night Football.

What does fantasy mean? It’s clear who the most explosive and effective runner behind the Cowboys is, and it’s not Ezekiel Elliott. Mike Clay tweeted last night that Pollard had his first 100-yard run game from Dallas since week five last season. Over the past two weeks, Pollard has gained 203 yards and one touchdown on 26 touchdowns. In Monday’s game, Elliott had 16 touches and Pollard had 13. The Cowboys seem to be more open to having a running committee in between. Pollard is on the RB2 radar in Week 4 against Commanders.

News: Sportzshala’s Jordan Raanan reported that Giants WR Sterling Shepherd suffered a serious left knee injury.

What does fantasy mean? Shepard caught five of 10 targets for 49 yards against the Cowboys before being taken away with a non-contact injury. The final diagnosis will be made on Tuesday morning when Shepard will have more tests, but his season is likely already over. Shepard has scored 20 goals in the last two games. Kadarius Toni is the best candidate to fill the void after he recovers from a hamstring injury. It is still available in 45% of Sportzshala leagues.

News: Sportzshala’s Adam Schefter reported that Patriots QB Mack Jones is likely to miss a few games with a high ankle sprain.

What does fantasy mean? Schefter also revealed that, according to his sources, Jones’ injury was so severe that many had to undergo surgery. Whether he gets the surgery or not will depend on whether the 1-2 Patriots think it’s the best option. New England will likely have veteran supporter Brian Hoyer, who knows Coach Bill Belichick’s system, at center in Week 4. The Patriots are likely to rely heavily on Ramondre Stevenson, Damien Harris and their defense.

News: QB Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa did not train on Monday due to a back and ankle injury.

What does fantasy mean? The Dolphins have confirmed that Tagovailoa suffered both injuries ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Bengals. Sportzshala’s Marcel Louis-Jacques reported that the NFL Players Association is also reviewing Miami’s concussion protocol after Tagovailoa developed concussion-like symptoms on Sunday. If Tagovailoa is active, he can be seen as a top QB2.

News: Sportzshala’s Ben Baby reported that Bengals head coach Zack Taylor said RB Joe Mixon should be ready to play Thursday night against the Dolphins.

What does fantasy mean? Mixon left Sunday’s game against the Jets in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury, so Samaye Perin handled all the touches. In three games, Mixon averaged 23.7 touches per game. Unfortunately, he only averages 13.2 fantasy points per game. The offensive line also plays a role in this. It will take time for the chemistry to develop with a talented but overall new unit. The Mixon can still be seen as a budget RB1.

News: Sportzshala’s Jamison Hensley reported that Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said RB JK Dobbins is in “good shape” after his first game since January 2020.

What does fantasy mean? This is great news for Dobbins. He played a limited number of snaps, but fantasy managers can expect Dobbins to be more involved each week. Given that he suffered cruciate ligament, biceps, hamstring and meniscus injuries in the 2021 preseason, it would make sense for the Ravens to bring him back into action. Dobbins is on the agility radar. You may want to take a wait-and-see attitude depending on your ability as a fantasy manager. Whenever Gus Edwards returns, Dobbins’ role may change.

News: Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Michael Thomas’s WR toe injury and Jarvis Landry’s foot injury were not considered serious.

What does fantasy mean? Thomas and Landry left Sunday’s game against the Panthers. Chris Olav remained the Saints’ main receiver, and he excelled, catching nine of 13 targets for 147 receiving yards. Additionally, Rapoport noted that Thomas’ injury is not on the same foot as his previous ankle injury. Thomas and Landry will undergo additional tests. If Thomas is active, he can be seen as a flexible option. Landry doesn’t belong in most fantasy lineups.

News: Sportzshala’s Jenna Lane reported that Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said WR Julio Jones was expected to play against the Chiefs in Week 4.

What does fantasy mean? Jones has missed each of the last two games with a knee injury. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that the veteran wide receiver was dealing with a partially torn PCL. Bowles neither confirmed nor denied the report after Sunday’s game against the Packers. Jones’ return is good news for the Buccaneers’ offense, which lacks wide receivers. It is likely that Chris Godwin will miss the fourth week. Jones is in the spotlight against the Chiefs’ high-octane offense.

News: Darren Urban of the Arizona Cardinals reported that WR AJ Green could miss the Week 4 game against the Panthers with a bruised bone.

What does fantasy mean? This was announced to reporters on Monday by the head coach of the Cardinals Cliff Kingsbury. Green left the third week before the break against the Rams. He landed awkwardly after trying to catch an incomplete pass. Green has caught five of 13 targets for 29 yards this season. His absence will result in more targets for Marchioness Brown, Greg Dortch and Zach Ertz. It is also possible that Rondale Moore will return from a hamstring injury.

News: WR Chargers Jalen Guyton ruled out for the season after tearing his cruciate ligaments against the Jaguars.

What does fantasy mean? Guyton was injured shortly after receiving for 54 yards against the Jaguars. It was his fourth season with the Chargers, starting in the 2021 season with a career-high 31 receptions for 448 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Joshua Palmer, who has played well without Keenan Allen for the past two weeks, will get more snaps and targets without Guyton. Palmer led the Chargers in offensive snaps, routes, targets and receiving yards against the Jaguars. It can be seen as a WR4/flex variant.

Let’s go deeper: Palmer has had five career games with six or more goals. In those games, he averaged 55.6 receiving yards and 15.3 fantasy points per game. It’s prudent for the Chargers to bring in Palmer.
