In the summer of 2021, the Warriors were looking for veteran players who were willing to take a discount in hopes of making the team aspiring to become an NBA champion.

One of the Golden State targets was DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls. The Warriors thought DeRozan might agree an exemption for mid-tier taxpayers of $5.9; however, this did not happen, and the 32-year-old signed a three-year contract for $85 million and went to the Windy City.

However, during DeRozan’s appearance on Thursday’s edition of “The The Draymond Green Show, more details emerged about the Warriors’ interest in the veteran wingman, and Green even made an offer to recruit him in the Bay Area.

The prospect of joining the Warriors led the former Toronto Raptors star to use NSFW lingo towards his friend Green.

“The conversation switched to ‘Join the Warriors’ and you’re like, ‘B…, no. I won’t go there. I’m not going to play with all of you,” Greene said.

In addition, Green told DeRozan during his free agency, “If you go to the Warriors, we can win a championship.”

However, this was not enough to encourage the veteran to go to Golden State. Of course, Green added another remark: “He didn’t show up and we still won the championship. I had to throw it away.”

DeRozan had a solid first season with Chicago, averaging 27.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
