Devils avoid arbitration with Miles Wood with 1-year, $3.2M deal

NEWARK, NJ – New Jersey Devils avoid arbitration with Miles Woodagreeing to a one-year, $3.2 million contract with the forward.

General manager Tom Fitzgerald announced the signing two days before both parties were due to go to arbitration. Wood will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the upcoming season.

Drafted by the Devils in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Wood, 26, was limited to three games last season due to surgery on his left hip and subsequent recovery.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward had 65 goals and 56 assists in 326 games in seven seasons with New Jersey.

Wood, assistant captain for the last two seasons, scored 19 goals, 32 points and 76 games in 2017/18. He also led the Devils in penalty minutes for three straight seasons from 2016 to 2019.
