CHICAGO – Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Josh Rojas missed the starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Chicago Cubs due to a bruised left hand.
Rojas was injured when he struck out in the first inning of Saturday’s 7–6 win over the Cubs. He hit his first three home runs of the season during Friday’s 10-6 win at Wrigley Field.
Manager Tori Lovullo said he didn’t think Rojas would need a spot on the injured list.
“There’s a lot of swelling there,” Lovullo said. “He’s just going to work it out, so he’s on a day-to-day basis.”
The Diamondbacks recalled infielder Drew Ellis from Triple-A Reno and sent infielder Yonny Hernandez ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cubs. Ellis started third in the final of a four-game set.
