“Vandy, Tulane, Rutgers, UPenn and Syracuse made the list,” he said. “These are good schools where I felt I could excel on and off the field.”

Gregoire paid an official visit to Rutgers in June, and he pulled out of the trip saying he would announce his decision at the end of July.

However, by mid-July, he abandoned the idea because he wanted to visit other schools at the end of July before making a decision. He visited Pennsylvania and then made a trip to Vanderbilt.

“The school I chose came down to the bigger picture,” he said, “which is a 40-year plan and the opportunity to take care of your family for life.”

Gregoire began his prep career at Rozelle Park High School (NJ), but moved on after his junior season. He also played basketball at Roselle Park.
