Tight end Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement from football on Tuesday, but no one close to Gronkowski believes the decision is permanent.

Agent Drew Rosenhouse represented Gronkowski for a long time, and shortly after Gronkowski’s announcement, he said he could imagine the tight end making a different choice at some point in the very near future.

“In my opinion, he’s not finished yet,” Rosenhaus told PFT in a text message. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get back on the road.”

So how far down the road?

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Tom Brady calls him during the season come back and Rob will answer the call,” Rosenhaus told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “It’s just my opinion, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rob comes back this season or next.”

Gronkowski once came out of retirement to join Brady in Tampa, and this time that would likely mean he wouldn’t have to go to training camp before returning to the roster. This will probably please a veteran who has as many scratches as Gronkowski has accumulated over the years, but these are all speculations about what the future might bring.

Gronkowski is now retired and the Bucks will be looking for other players to fill their tight end needs.
