Three lions tense their muscles

It was quite the answer from England. Yes, they didn’t score until the second half, but they dominated Wales and Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden were huge influences after joining the team and Harry Kane was great at quarterback. Gareth Southgate has some tough decisions to make as Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount may not return to this team. It was a dominant game for England that reminded us that when they are at their best in attack, they are almost unstoppable.

Marcus Rashford: Two goals, including a terrific free kick, and he took his chance. What a standing ovation when he also broke away.

Phil Foden: Now we understand why everyone wanted him to play! Achieved my goal and created so much. Should start against Senegal.

Key storylines, players to keep an eye on

The Welsh did not use their second trip to the World Cup in their history. They dominated the first half of their first match against the USA but showed good spirits to come back for a point at the end. Against Iran they were second throughout the match and Wayne Hennessy’s late red card was followed by two late Iranian goals and Robert Page had no complaints as his team didn’t show up. Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale have had great careers but have been hit hard by injury in recent years and it looks like this tournament is too far for the Wales star duo.

As for England, the vultures are returning home as Gareth Southgate is under pressure once again over what many see as overly cautious tactics. Against the USA, they huffed and huffed, creating no clear chances, and they were very lucky that they got off with a draw. Despite England being all but guaranteed a place in the round of 16, Three Lions fans expect more from Harry Kane and company after reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup four years ago and finishing second at the European Championship for just over a year back. Southgate is expected to make quite a few changes to their roster as the likes of Phil Foden, Calvin Phillips and Marcus Rashford could show up from the start.

What Iran has taught us against the US

It’s hard not to feel good about Christian Pulisic, who is no longer a young lighter hoping to fulfill his potential.

The next great American player actually became the next great American player, and our enduring memory of him associated with the World Cup was associated with qualifying; A junior scorer who didn’t find a teammate who also scored in Kuva as the Yankees were eliminated from the tournament.

Now the enduring image of him at the World Championships, and rightly so, is the gamer. Pulisic scored with a kick to the bottom of the field.

Then his teammates needed to hold on tight.

Basically it was! The USMNT remained resilient after Gregg Berhalter stopped scoring the second goal, taking out several hitters in favor of Walker Zimmerman and Shaq Moore.

It was nerve-wracking, but they did it. And the US is moving forward…

Key storylines, players to keep an eye on

For Iran, it is about harnessing the momentum of a huge victory after finding inspiration in a huge defeat. Between a 6-2 opening loss to England in Al Rayyan and a 2-0 triumph over Wales in the same city, the emotional difference is worth an ocean. Can Mehdi Taremi or Sardar Azmoun succeed where Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling failed and break the USMNT defense for a goal?

Meanwhile, the Yankees may still be mourning a 1-1 draw with Wales as they celebrate a strong performance that kept them undefeated against England in the World Cup after a goalless draw with Gareth Southgate’s men at Al Khor. Gregg Berhalter must find a way to solve the problems of the last third of the USMNT when they hit Al Khor on Tuesday.

There was also some off-field tension brewing between the US and Iran around the game, to which Gregg Berhalter and Captain Tyler Adams responded in a tense press conference amid questions from the Iranian press.
