Canton, Ohio is a legendary family of countless football icons.

It is the city that hosts the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which pays tribute to the sport’s greatest players.

Each year, a new batch of players is chosen to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In 2022, eight players will forever be in the history books.

From there, a 49-member selection committee, made up of members of the media, is polled three times (in March, July, and September for the upcoming class) before a final list of 18–19 is determined. These finalists then discuss their biographies before the downsizing vote begins.

To be elected, a finalist must receive at least 80% of the votes. The accounting firm collects and counts the ballots, but the voting results are not announced. The only announcement concerns the elect.
