Every Thursday during the 2022 NFL season, Matt Bowen will talk about the value of fantasy football players through the lens of a former NFL quarterback. And he, too, will interfere. Matches to play (or avoid), trend charts, tape study and more.

After reviewing the feed of the third week and looking at the upcoming matches, I found that some players are moving up in my rankings. Seahawks receiver D.K. Metcalfe is one of those players due to his increased volume target, more use of the red zone and a pretty good matchup in Week 4.

DK Metcalfe, WR, Seattle Seahawks

Metcalfe moved up slightly in my PPR this week (WR24) after scoring 17.3 points on a season-high 12 goals in the Seahawks’ Week 3 game against the Falcons. Metcalfe also caught a touchdown in the red zone on a vertical shot against zone coverage in that game (climbing the stairs to finish there). And on his seven routes in the red zone, he scored a total of five targets. Do I want to see more shots with Metcalfe? Yes, because he’s averaging just over 8 yards per reception this season. But given the positive performance against the Lions defense on Sunday, and the increased use of the red zone we’re seeing, I’ll take Metcalfe as the WR3 in the lineup.
