Fantasy Football Week 2 Tight End Rankings: Not buying O.J. Howard’s big debut — yet

Have any twisted endings changed how we should treat them in the first week of fantasy season? As you can see from my week 2 rankings, the answer is: “Not really.”

I mean, I guess you can argue that O.J. Howard went from a total nonentity to someone you at least need to know about thanks to his two-touchdown game for the Texans. However, Howard only played six snaps in the first game, so he didn’t make my top 24 for the week. He’s more of someone to keep an eye on, in case his role continues to grow in the future.

Otherwise, I feel a little more confident in Darren Waller than before the start of the season. His target share was slightly lower for debut, but he was able to break some big plays and score goals in the outfield, and there could be more room for that if Davante Adams puts more emphasis on defense. And maybe Pat Freiermuth’s 10-target debut could turn into something useful.

But, for the most part, my expectations for tight ends remain largely the same, meaning that I really expect only the first 10 or so names here to be consistently useful. Perhaps the second week will begin to change that. In the meantime, here’s what I expect from tight ends this week.

  1. Travis Kelsey vs LAC
  2. Kyle Pitts @LAR
  3. Mark Andrews vs MIA
  4. Darren Waller vs. ARI
