The son of FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem died in a car accident in Dubai.
A spokesman for the FIA, motorsport’s governing body, confirmed on Friday that Saif Ben Sulayem had died.
The younger Ben Sulayem had a short racing career and competed against 2023 F1 rookies Oscar Piastri and Logan Sargent in the 2016-17 UAE Formula 3 series.
His father, a former Middle East rally champion, has been elected to the most influential role in motorsport in 2021. Mohammed Ben Sulayem recently retired from the daily routine of Formula One, the premier racing series, after falling out with management and his team during the off-season.
No further comments are expected from the FIA or its president.
