“It’s really just the coaching staff,” Mizell said when asked why Florida. “They are all very cool and they created a great atmosphere. I really like what Coach Napier is doing and I see how he is bringing the program back to national championships.”

Mizell grew up sneaking into the Swamp on Saturdays.

“I’ve probably been to a dozen games,” Mizell remarked. “My favorite player as a kid was probably Antonio Callaway when it came to what he did on the pitch and not off it. He was just a playmaker and always scored, which was a problem for any defense. I like it”.

Mizell, named by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 16 in the class of 2023, is considered one of the fastest recruits in the country. He dropped to 10.65 in the 100 meters and 46.99 in the 400 meters. That timing should allow him to run for the Gators (as his family members did), and his position coach, Kerry Colbert, seems to be in complete agreement.

“Coach Colbert and I talk all the time,” Mizell said. “What I really like about Coach Colbert is that he is into athletics. We always talk about it. We talked about the World Cup. [last week] and so on. It’s just great that we both have something we like.”

At 6’2″ and 180 pounds, Mizell is finishing a junior season in which he caught 47 passes for 1,003 yards and scored 18 points.

Part of 247Sports’ scouting report for Mizell can be found below.

The son of a former All-American sprinter who also made a name for himself on the track… Is quickly stop and fold defensive backs. Nimble enough to create a gap as he pushes up the field. Possesses a surprisingly long catch radius and has shown to be able to win 50-50 balls in some situations, but the ability to simply catch the ball without breaking stride may be the most promising quality. He could probably make a living someday just by running go-routes, but he has shown that he can also play snippets with quick pop-up screens, at least at the training level… Should excel in modern pro-style offense that uses game action to land deep punches. The NFL is on the rise with its planes.”
