A week ago, Florida became a four-star linebacker. Zavion Hardyin the top three along with Liberty and South Carolina. Hardy returned to Gainesville over the weekend for his second visit to the UF campus, and he left with the Gators as the clear leader in his recruitment, according to Alligators online.
He spent most of the visit with the defensive line coach and joint defense coordinator. Sean Spencer and spent some time with the head coach Billy Napier. The staff’s sincere approach to recruiting is refreshing to him, and it’s one of the reasons Florida is the first school on his list to set a date for an official visit.
He will return on October 15 for a Gators date with LSU to better feel the game atmosphere of the Swamp. This should put UF in first place as it is already quite high in the SEC rankings.
“Florida, they’re #1,” Hardy told GO. “…It’s just a Florida tradition. I’d like to play The Swamp and stuff like that.”
Liberty and South Carolina aren’t the fiercest schools Florida competes with for recruits this cycle, but they likely offer opportunities to play early on. Losing the lead at this point could be seen as a bad omen for Napier and company, unless other higher-ranked linemen than Hardy show up.
Although this is easier said than done. Hardy is not in the top 100 of the On3 Consensus Prediction, is 155th overall and 14th among those in his group.
