Former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles was reportedly charged with capital murder following Sunday’s shooting.

Miles, 21, was one of two suspects charged with the shooting. A video of Miles leaving the Tuscaloosa County jail surfaced on Twitter on Sunday.

Shortly after this footage was released, Miles’ player page on Alabama’s website was unavailable.

The University of Alabama released a statement saying it was aware of the “recent allegation” against Miles. Miles was kicked off campus and “is no longer a member of the Alabama men’s basketball team.”

The arrest came just hours after Alabama defeated LSU 106-66 on Saturday. Prior to the contest, Miles was ruled out of the season with an ankle injury. He sat on the bench during Saturday’s game and celebrating with teammates at the stadium.

The 23 year old woman was shot and killed While in the car around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Tuscaloosa Violent Crime Squad Capt. Jack Kennedy told al.com. After the woman was shot dead, the driver of the car discovered a University of Alabama police officer.

The driver said he returned fire in self-defense and may have hit the suspect. After talking to witnesses and reviewing video footage, the police Two suspects identified and arrested, Kennedy told al.com. One of the suspects received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the shelling.

Kennedy said the shooting appears to have taken place after the victim and the suspects got into a “minor altercation.”
