yesterday afternoon, Curtis Williams announced he is down to six schools. Alabama, Florida State, notre dame, Tennessee State, Seton Halland Xavier all made the cut for the 6-foot-6 big wing out of Bloomfield Hills (Mich.).
Williams has had an impressive start to the grassroots season as 247Sports was on hand for his great shooting performances at NY2LA’s Swish N’ Dish and the Nike EYBL Circuit.
During that period discussed a few of the schools that qualified for his top six list:
Alabama: “Nate Oats and his whole coaching staff recruits me from there. What stands out is how hard they recruit me. They put a lot of effort into getting to know me and my family.”
Florida State: “Leonard Hamilton recruits me from there and I like him a lot. His pitch to me is how he likes my versatility. He knows I can score but I do not need to score to impact a game.”
Providence: “Ed Cooley is a cultured coach. That is something that my mom and I look at because it does make a difference. They won the Big East and that was a big deal. They made a far run in the tournament, so that stood out.”
Notre Dame and Xavier were the last two programs to enter the mix. Both schools came into the mix after Williams’ April live period showings. Now with a selection of programs at his choosing, Williams will now focus on setting official visits.
“When taking my visits I will be looking for a great program,” Williams told 247Sports last month. “How the players connect with the coaches and vice-versa will say a lot in my decision.”
