And a list trim still appears to be a ways off.

“I’m still pretty open and probably won’t trim my list until later on,” said Esera. “All the colleges have been great, getting me all the info they have and they keep bringing things to the table to make me interested. They’re all doing a really good job and pretty strongly recruiting me.”

Esera, though, did say a few schools have been more notable in their communication with him.

“Stanford, Oregon, BYU, UCLA and USC, we’ve had a lot of good talks,” said Esera. “It’s amazing, they told me their plans and what to look forward to.”

USC, in particular, has been in consistent communication with Esera.

“USC has been amazing with the new staff,” Esera said. “They way they are putting a new team together, it’s a rebuilding of the USC of old so that is a good school to watch out for.”

A number of schools have already been through Timpview this spring.

“Washington, Utah, Michigan State, UCLA, New Mexico State, Cal, they’ve all come in,” said Esera. “It’s pretty amazing how hard I’m being recruited.”

For Esera, his positional versatility is also what is attracting schools to him.

“I’ve been offered for multiple positions,” said Esera. “Middle linebacker, edge, outside linebacker, defensive end and 3-tech. I’m open to any spot, I just want to apply my talent the best I can and my speed and my strength will help.”

Esera said he is likely going to wait until the fall to start taking his official visits.

“I think I’m going to do them in the fall,” said Esera. “I want to be able to see how coaches are coaching. I might do one earlier, but most of them will be in the fall.”

The 6-3, 253-pounder is a four-star in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, checking in as the No. 18 linebacker nationally and the No. 4 prospect in Utah in 2023.

He will play in the 2023 Polynesian Bowl in Honolulu.
